Octopus dofleini

My latest painting on a piece of wood from the beach...

The Giant Pacific Octopus resides in our local waters.  A few months ago a rogue tentacle from one of these massive creatures washed ashore during a surf... It was about the same diameter as my forearm.... The water was exceptionally murky that day, and my buddy in the lineup kept saying he thought a giant tentacle was going to reach up from the depths and grab ahold of him.... Eventually an eagle came and devoured the appendage while we surfed... That tentacle was monstrous, it would be amazing to see the size of the octopus that lost it...

Here is a few pics of how this painting came to be....

Hoping for a surf today, but it depends on the wind.... Will the system stall out and allow for a calm surf at the park?  Or will it whip through the sound and force a surf at my sketchy secret wind wave point?  We shall see in the next few hours...
